Bill Riddington Recognised for Contribution to Retirement Village Industry

Vision Lifestyle Projects' Bill Riddington received the highest recognition the Retirement Village Association of Australia has when he was awarded Life Membership at a glittering dinner held at the Art Gallery of Victoria. The dinner marked the end of the RVA's 2007 conference which was attended by 620 delegates from every state of Australia and overseas.

Bill was one of the original founders of the Retirement Villages Association of NSW and then the national association in the late 1980s. He served as secretary of RVA NSW for many years until moving into the President's role. He later progressed to be National President.

In accepting his award Bill paid tribute to other industry pioneers including Tony Baldwin and Averil Fink as well as long serving National Secretary Peter Govan. He also thanked his long time business partners Peter Burgess and Andrew Latimer for their support in running their successful retirement village management business while he spent a large amount of his time on voluntary association business.

Bill's wife Carmel was also on hand to join in the celebrations.

Bill continues to serve on the boards of three retirement operations as well as with Vision Lifestyle Projects. Looking ahead he is particulalry interested in the contribution he can make to establishing an industry knowledge base which captures the experience of himself and other key industry figures for the future benefit of the industry.
